Poznámka:
Note:
Tato verze Warhawku dostala vedle silnějšího motoru také mohutnější výzbroj, pasivní ochranu a navíc byl zdokonalen po aerodynamické stránce. The Kittyhawk have two major changes from the earlier Tomahawk. It used the Allison V-1710-39 engine, which gave better performance at altitude than the earlier engines and the two 0.50 calibre machine guns from the nose were moved to the wings. The RAF received 20 Kittyhawk Is, before requesting an increase in firepower, which resulted in the Mk IA.

Brief history:
At the beginning of 1940 was a new version of the engine Allison V-1710-39, for the export was marked with a F3R. The factory Curtiss wanted this engine to use for the aircraft , P-40C. Since the engine was equipped with a new reducer, allow it to shorten the torso, shrunk to a cross-section of the hull, by increasing the axis of the propeller was allowed to a slight reduction in the chassis. A characteristic element for all other versions (excluding the P-40Q) was an enlarged radiator fluid. Major changes to to see also armament, all the guns had the same calibre of 12,7 mm and were installed only in the wings. P-40D for the USAAC had only 4 machine guns with a supply of 481 rounds on the barrel, the u.s. air force soon demanded the installation of an additional pair of machine guns and so after 22 aircraft of this version passes the production on the version of the P-40E. For the british royal letectvi version of the P-40D was produced as a Kittyhawk I and from dvacáteho piece bore also six půlpalcových machine - Kittyhawk Mk.IA. These Kittyhawky serve in the australian, canadian and new zealand air force, výškovost their engines weren't big and, therefore, were still more often used as fighter-bombers. Several aircraft of this version was even in the USSR..
