Vickers Wellington Mk.IV

Fuselage, wings equipment and armament identical to Mk.I C. They differed in the installation of fourteen cylindrical air-cooled Pratt & amp; Whitney R-1830-S3C4-G Twin Wasp with a takeoff power of 1200 hp (895 kW) with a three-bladed propeller Curtiss Electric. The first prototype, the company designation Vickers Type 410, was created by rebuilding the serial Mk.I C in December 1940. The first pieces of 219 mass-produced aircraft (Type 424), began to come to the units & # 357; in June 1941.

This edit was made to include insufficient production of suitable engines in the United Kingdom. For the reconstruction were used engines that were originally ordered by the French Air Force for its bombers Martin 167 and Douglas DB.7. The installation of these power units would prove in practice & # 357; quite problematic, the engines suffered from oil loss and often overheated.
