Následne došlo k prudkému poklesu otáčok a vysadeniu motora. Po štyroch neúspešných pokusoch o spustenie motora za letu vykonala posádka lietadla úspešnú katapultáž. Lietadlo dopadlo na okraj lesného porastu. Piloti dopadli na padákoch cca. 500 metrov od trosiek lietadla do zalesneného terénu. Príčinou leteckej nehody bol titánový požiar v priestore 3. stupňa vysokotlakého kompresoru. -
