MiG-110

In the late 1980s, the USSR started the process of developing a smaller transport aircraft for special purposes (mainly transporting and dropping a small group of reconnaissance/subversives into the enemy's rear), which would at the same time partially replace the L-410, An-24, An-26, and Yak-40 aircraft. The aircraft was to be characterized by short take-off and landing capability even from unpaved surfaces and reduced level of unmasking signs. A design from Mikoyan's design bureau, designated the MiG-110, won the 1990 competition. Further development of the aircraft was affected by the collapse of the USSR and the economic crisis in Russia, which also noticeably affected the aircraft industry and its development projects. In 1994, the Government of the Russian Federation decided to finance further development with state money, and in August 1997 a 1:1 scale mock-up of the aircraft was completed. The Sokol plant subsequently began production of a flying prototype, but in late 1998 work on the project was halted due to the government stopping funding. The manufacturer also sought to push the project into the civil aircraft segment, with designs for the incorporation of Western avionics and Pratt & Whitney Canada PW127C (MiG-110M) engines. Another attempt to keep the project alive was the effort to produce it in Europe (Austria) with the MiG-110A designation (2000).
The planned military transport version had the designation MiG-110VT and the reconnaissance-patrol version MiG-110PR.
Efforts to obtain funding to complete the roject were ultimately unsuccessful and the designers who realized the MiG-110 mostly switched to Sukhoi and its S-80 (Su-80) project.
