S.M.S. Prinzregent Luitpold
Prinzregent Luitpold was to be distinguished from other Kaiser class ships by its combined propulsion. The two outermost shafts were to be driven by turbines and the middle shaft was to be powered by a giant MAN two-stroke diesel of 12,000 hp. It was to be used for cruising at cruising speed. However, this was not delivered by the start of the war, so this ship had not 3 but only 2 shafts and propellers. These were enlarged to 4 m in diameter (other Kaiser class ships had 3 propellers with a diameter of 3.75 m).
