One of the most important members of the czechoslovak. air force in the world war ii he was born in Vyškov 24. in may 1913. In the pre-war czechoslovak. the air force served as a sergeant in bomber squadrons. After the establishment of the protectorate he fled in may of 1939 in Poland and shortly after that he went together with other ms. pilots on the ship Batory to France. There had to - as well as others - to sign the commitment to join the Foreign legion. He was sent to north Africa training centre in Siddi bel Abbes, from which after the outbreak of the war assigned to training base of the French air force in Africa and later in France. However, the situation began to sharply vyhrocovat, when the nazi army from Belgium broke through the fence and quickly progressed into the bowels of the earth. Anderle, not only that they didn't get to the front, but had in addition to run with other czechoslovak airmen in France. On one of the last ships sailed to Great Britain.


After a short stay in a quarantine camp, he went to ms. the depots in the Cosfordu, where he was admitted to the Royal Air Force (Rs. And. F.). 29. July 1940 along a fetus 311. ms. bomber the squadron moved to the airport Honnington, where the unit formed and battle-weary to night bombing of enemy territory for most of the multi Wellingtonech. As one of the first since September 1940 he participated in the operational forces. After passing the specified operating turnusu, i.e. 200 operating hours, in October 1941 signed up as a volunteer to the 138. squadron for special purposes, which was at the airport Tangmere. This most secret unit of the Royal Air Force vysazovala skydivers and diverzanty over the occupied territories. The crew could talk about a large fortune, when survived ten such flights. Lieutenant Leo Anderle them graduated 32. He flew over France, Holland, Luxembourg, Austria, Poland, and over the territory of Czechoslovakia. Here, inter alia, dropped off 28. march 1942 ms. the parachutist from the group of Out to the Distance, 27. April group Bioscop and Bivouac, 28. April Intransitive and 24. October 1942 a group of Antimony.


His last years took place in the night 10. December 1942. A four-engine Halifax Mk. II started off with the crew of the por. Anderle, rtn. Pánek, npor. Krcha, ppor. Vaníček, ppor. Carpenter, ppor. Rozprým and srtm. Hajek and with ten british airmen on board, that with them he flew across the Mediterranean sea from Africa to Malta. Was probably shot down near the island of Malta, the German fighters from Crete.


Leo Anderle was for his phenomenally successful wartime air activity provides four Ms. war cross 1939 two Ms. medals For gallantry, Ms. medal of merit 1. degree and the highest in the English aviation honors D. F. C. - worthy air in the cross. His name is listed on the memorial to the victims of the war in the north african El. Alamein.
