I obtained a Russian document entitled "Regulation on Assault Units of the Z 8th Combined Army." This document outlines the objectives, organization, and logistical requirements of the "Z" assault units. After analyzing its contents, I selected the main points.



The document defines "Z" Company as a separate, joint, tactical, combined arms company, temporarily formed outside the unit structure of the regular Army Corps for immediate operational use in the performance of particularly complex combat tasks. The document outlines the requirement for the establishment of "Z" companies within the following units:
- Independent artillery brigades: 1st, 9th, 110th, 114th 1st Army Corps
- Motorized artillery regiments (150th Motorized Artillery Division): 102nd, 103rd.
- Tank regiments (150th Motorized Artillery Division): 68th, 163rd.
- Separate motorized artillery brigades: 4th, 6th, 7th, 110th, 123rd, 132nd.
The composition of a company (or detachment) has a flexible structure that varies depending on the combat mission adopted, situational conditions, terrain, and other factors, and is supplemented by the necessary number of personnel.



Structure of the "Z" Assault Company (100 personnel):
4x assault squad (10 persons each)
4x fire support squad (10 persons each)
1x company headquarters (2 persons)
1x combat engineer group (5 persons)
1x reconnaissance group (8 persons)



1x Medevac group (3 personnel)
1x UAV crew (2 persons)



The objectives of 'Z' Assault Company are:
- to conduct combat operations in a city (settlement) or areas with difficult geographical conditions
- occupy important objects such as forts, command posts, communication centers, buildings, structures




- conduct sabotage operations in enemy-controlled territories
- search for and destroy sabotage and reconnaissance groups



- blockade structures and eliminate enemy forces within them
- to control artillery fire and air support



It should be noted that repairmen who join Assault Unit Z have a status equivalent to "BARS" volunteers and receive a salary of 205,000 rubles per month for the duration of the contract.



The second stage of training involves platoon coordination, focusing on joint actions of military personnel in combat pairs, triplets and platoons. It includes self-help and mutual aid, mutual fire cover, radio communications, and preparation for coordinated actions during marches, urban assault, capturing fortified points, and securing gains.


The third phase of training involves platoon coordination with a primary focus on preparing them to conduct assault operations and coordinated joint actions during marches, urban assaults, capture of fortified points, and securing gains.


It is noteworthy that Company Z includes prisoners, and there are specific regulations regarding their participation, which I will address in Part II.
